    The remarkable Town of East Hampton is located on the southeastern edge of Suffolk County, at the eastern end of the south shore of Long Island, New York. East Hampton, along with its surrounding neighbors, is part of an area referred to as “The Hamptons”. East Hampton is the easternmost town in the state of New York and is on a peninsula. There were 21,457 residents in East Hampton at the time of the 2010 census. East Hampton has a total area of 70 square miles. Included in the Town of East Hampton is the Village of East Hampton, as well as the hamlets of Spring, Montauk, Amagansett, and Wainscott. The unincorporated area of Sag Harbor is also considered part of the Town of East Hampton. East Hampton is bordered by Napeague Bay, Fort Pond Bay and Gardiners Bay to the north, by the Atlantic Ocean on the south, Block Island Sound on the east, and to the west is western Long Island. On a clear day, both Connecticut and Rhode Island can be seen. 

    There are eight state parks in the Town of East Hampton, most are located on the water. Some of the beaches in the area are Acabonac, Barnes Hole, Louse Point, Maidstone and the private beach Clearwater. These are considered some of the best beaches in the world. Whale and seal watching are a popular pastime. The area is a study in contrast with beautiful verdant farmland abutting pristine beaches. Montauk, the beach resort located on the eastern end of East Hampton, is home to the largest commercial fishing fleet in New York. The Long Island Rail Road provides service to Pennsylvania Station, and Hampton Jitney provides bus service to Manhattan. Montauk Airport can accommodate small planes.
